Warranty CERTIFICATE
GUARANTEE/WARRANTY
What North Solar (us, our, we) guarantees;
Our products are manufactured to high standards. Each product is manually inspected prior to leaving our warehouse and is guaranteed against manufacture faults.
- NS-100 stainless steel tank is guaranteed against manufacturer’s defects for a period of 3 years from the date of purchase
- NS-200 stainless steel tank is guaranteed against manufacturer’s defects for a period of 5 years from the date of purchase
- NS-300 stainless steel tank is guaranteed against manufacturer’s defects for a period of 5 years from the date of purchase
- North Solar vacuum tubes are guaranteed against manufacturer’s defects for a period of 10 years from the date of purchase
- Accessories are guaranteed against manufacturer’s defects for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase when used within scope they were designed for
- Custom made accessories and commercial specifically engineered builds will be warranted independently
- Where systems are installed commercial applications, the warranty is 50% of residential warranty
This includes;
- Stainless steel nuts and bolts
- Stainless steel header tank
- Aluminium tank stand/frame
- Stainless steel tank stand/frame
- Seals, internal and external
If any of the above are faulty due to manufacturers fault, we will replace or repair, at our choice, the faulty item, as soon as practical.
Freight to or from the client or our workshop is not covered under our guarantee and will have to be covered by the owner, except in the case of DOA, which will be determined by us.
Installation or any workmanship are not part of the warranty and cannot be claimed. North Solar only provides the product and is not responsible or liable for any installation, transport or labour.
Any DOA claims have to be lodged within 7 days of receipt of goods.
For a claim to be valid, correspondence is required within 7 days of problem (this needs to be in writing which includes; email, sms, or hand written (voicemail or telephone claims are not valid). If the client has not responded within 14 days of response from North Solar, it is deemed the client does not want to pursue the case and it will be closed and no further claims can be made with North Solar for that product.
WATER QUALITY
1.4. Water quality
Water in direct flow through the manifold header must firstly meet potable water requirement and in addition the following:
- Total dissolved solids < 600mg/litre or p.p.m
- Total hardness < 200mg/litre or p.p.m
- Chloride < 250mg/litre or p.p.m
- Magnesium < 10mg/litre or p.p.m
In areas with “hard” water (>200ppm), line scale may from inside in header pipe.
In such regions, it is advisable to install a water softening device to ensure the long-term efficient operation of the collector, or use a closed loop for the solar circulation loop. If using a glycol/water must meet the above requirements, and the glycol must be changed periodically to prevent the glycol from becoming acidic.
1.5. Metallic corrosion
Both copper & stainless steel are susceptible to corrosion when high concentrations of chloride are present. The solar collector may be used for heating of spa or pool water, but levels of free chorine must not exceed 2ppm.in addition the warranty provided on the header when using for spa or pool heating is 2 years, which is the standard for spa and pool heaters. Chloride level present in most reticulated public potable water supplies is safe for use in the collector provided there is no use of bore waters in the reticulated supply.
Warranty is VOID if FULL payment has not been completed.
Under Australian Regulatory Requirements, hot water systems and plumbing is required to be performed by a Registered Plumber. Warranty may be void if installation is not performed to Regulatory Standards.
All products and components remain the property of North Solar until full payment on product (and installation where applicable) have been finalised and cleared
Example
A NS300 kit is delivered to a client by a North Solar representative. Client notices the tank has been damaged in transit after opening the box 6 days after delivery. Client contacts North Solar to inform of the damage. North Solar emails the client confirming issues and suggests a resolution.
- Client goes on holidays and responds to North Solar that they are happy with the resolution 14 days later. North Solar will honour resolution.
- Client goes on holidays and responds to North Solar that they are happy with the resolution 15 days later. Resolution may NO LONGER BE VALID.
Warranty is VOID if products are used outside of the scope they were intended for.
Warranty is VOID if replacement parts are not North Solar or approved by North Solar in writing, such as third-party vacuum tubes, header tanks, seals.
Warranty is VOID if liquids used in tanks are not of a ‘Rainwater or drinkable water’ standard, this includes bore water, dam water, unfiltered water, mineralised water (natural or man-made).
CORROSION
NS-200WB & NS-300WB are wetback (water-jacket) stove and heater compatible, however using wetback stoves ‘may’ corrode parts of the system, fittings or seals. We found this is most likely in old units that have underlying issues and have not been properly flushed.
New stoves and Wet-flues do not appear to have corrosion issues.
This type of corrosion is not covered under warranty as the materials and workmanship are not the cause of corrosion or system failure.
If you are concerned, it is highly recommended to use an anti-corrosion agent to prevent degradation of system tanks, fittings and seals.
Corrosion is a natural process even in stainless steel.
FREIGHT INSURANCE
Freight INSURANCE is NOT included and is available at an additional 5% of final cost:

PAYMENT
Payment is due in full prior to any pick up of goods.
Goods will not be released under any circumstances unless we have proof of full payment, in cash, PayPal, EFT bank transfer or any other method designated and agreed to by us.

All goods are the property of North Solar until full payment has cleared.
Any outstanding funds will void all warranties.
Example 1:
You have been quoted $3000 for a system plus an installation of $1000 (total of $4000), you pay a deposit of $2000 and the installer arrives and installs your system, you pay the outstanding amount 4 weeks later. The system does NOT belong to you until the funds have been received in the North Solar bank account.
We understand that miscommunications can happen and we are real people, so we won’t remove your system or ‘bust your balls’, but please be nice and pay your bill if we call you and send a reminder within 14 days.
Example 2:
You have been quoted $3000 for a system plus an installation of $1000 (total of $4000), you pay a deposit of $2000 and the installer arrives and installs your system, you decide the system is not suited to your needs and refuse to pay the outstanding funds.
In this scenario, you are required to pay the outstanding funds within 14 days, if you don’t the system does NOT belong to you and we can seek to reclaim it with any expenses incurred, plus 10% per annum calculated monthly.
We understand that miscommunications can happen and we are real people, so we won’t remove your system or ‘bust your balls’, but please be nice and pay your bill if we call you and send a reminder within 14 days.
STORAGE
Items can be stored at our premises for 14 days after cleared payment for the purpose of pick up by buyer or someone appointed by the buyer (in writing, email, sms, eBay email).
Storage over 14 days can accrue fees of $10 per day, unless otherwise arranged with us beforehand and confirmed in writing.
If goods are not picked up within 100 days, the goods can be auctioned and proceeds will be donated to charity.
In effect you will surrender the goods to charity and will not be able to claim reimbursement from us or the charity the funds are donated to.

2021 update
WETBACK GUARANTEE – ANTI CORROSIVE INHIBITOR
North Solar systems that have wetback inputs and are used with a water-jacket or wet-back stove (or a wet-flue), may require to have an anti corrosive inhibitor used in the main tank with the heating medium at the manufacturers ratio.
This will guarantee the tank for the full period of 5 years.
If no anti-corrosive inhibitor is used the manufacturer’s warranty is 12 months.
CAUTION
Using anti-corrosive inhibitors may cause adverse health problems if spilled (overflow) into drinking water.
Please ensure your system is installed according to local laws and regulations by a professional with the appropriate skill sets.

WHAT WE WILL NOT do
We will NOT repair;
Any item damaged by you, or any representative you may nominate. This may include couriers or anyone instructed by you or someone appointed by you.
We will NOT repair any part damaged by you, or any representative you may nominate.
Any item that has been used outside of its scope and intended use.
This includes fittings damaged by overtightening, damaging threads by over tightening or forcing.
It is recommended all installations are conducted by a professional like a Registered plumber who has experience in solar hot water systems for best result.
Pay for any courier or transport to get faulty goods back to our depot. This has to be organised and paid by you prior to any guarantee being honoured by us.
Replace any vacuum tube damaged in transport or through inappropriate handling by you or any representative you may nominate.
We will not repair any goods which are not part of the North Solar range. This means if you choose to use a third party vacuum tube, stand, header tank or any other component which will replace a North Solar component supplied to you by us. In all effect, using third party replacement voids your warranty, unless expressly agreed to by us in writing.
We will NOT repair any unit or component which has been modified, opened, or installed while in a damaged state.
INSTALLATION
We are importers, designers, wholesalers.
We do not offer an engineering service on how a system should be configured to your specific needs. Please engage an engineer experienced in the field you intend to use.
We may offer advice and feedback based on previous clients experience but this does not constitute recommendations on how to configure and install a system.
Solar hot water systems are used in many professional and domestic applications and your plumber or other suitably qualified expert should be engaged prior to purchase and installation.
At times we may offer an installation service which may be performed by North Solar approved contractor.
Such installation is guaranteed by the contractor and their terms and conditions, NOT North Solar.
We will not cover any cost associated with an installation, modification, repair, re-installation, warranty installation.
It is important that all products are installed by a suitably qualified professional and adhere to all local Laws and Regulations.
Your Registered builder or Registered plumber are the most qualified to understand your local legal and building specific requirements.
We will not be liable in any way for any injury by you, to you, or anyone associated, directed, related to you.
Guarantee will be compromised and not honoured if not installed to North Solar specifications or by an unlicensed professional, or in a manner which may breach local or national Laws and Regulations.
Technical specification
All care is taken in providing all technical specifications available to be accurate and true. In some instances, errors may occur through human error or computer/font/colour mis interpretation.
We will correct information as soon as practical upon being made aware of the error.
We will not accept liability due to these errors.
Stock and versioning
North Solar updates their stock to newer and improved versions when our R&D demonstrate improvements will benefit our client.
When stock is updated to a newer version, old stock and accessories will be available for three months from date of purchase, after such date, only remaining stock will be available. North Solar will not provide new stock for redundant systems.
Example
- Client purchases a NS-200WB on the 1st March 2016. On 14th May 2016 they request to purchase additional tube saddles and heating element.
- These will be available or suitable replacement will be sourced.
- Client purchases a NS-200WB on the 1st March 2016. On 14th July 2016 they request to purchase additional tube saddles and heating element.
- These will NOT be available. North Solar may (upon our discretion) attempt to find a suitable replacement, if suitable replacement cannot be sourced, North Solar will provide the client with technical specifications for the client to source.
PRIVACY
We will not release your personal, business, electronic, paper, real, virtual data or information to any 3rd party without your written consent.
We will not release or forward your email address or any other information for the purpose of promotion or advertising without your written consent.
COURIERS, FREIGHT AND INSURANCE
All care is taken to ensure our goods are couriered and delivered in good condition.
North Solar offer ‘NS Depot to Depot guarantee’ at an additional cost of 5% of total invoice.
This guarantees that your system will arrive with no damage at the depot being collected.
If the system is damaged, the components damaged will be replaced and freighted to the depot (or your address depending on cost and components.
Vacuum tubes will ONLY be delivered to a depot under the Guarantee if damaged while being delivered as a full system/kit.
Vacuum tubes are not guaranteed when purchased separately, all care is taken but no warranty is offered.
If you would like ‘Fragile Freight’ organised, you will need to arrange pick up from our warehouse at your own discretion.
We do not guarantee goods in transport unless ‘NS Depot to Depot guarantee’ has been purchased.
Freight INSURANCE is NOT included and is available at an additional 5% of final cost:
If you feel you require insurance for your goods, you can purchase this from us at additional cost or you can arrange it through your own insurer or broker. We will supply your insurer with a Pro-Forma Invoice at your request.
We recommend if you feel that goods may be damaged in transit that you seek and get ‘Goods in Transit Insurance’, also known as Cargo or Marine insurance.
We send an email 24 hours prior to freight being dispatched. If you do not cancel the order within that time, you will be liable for any return freight if the goods are not suitable.
We do not refund freight.
North Solar Freight INSURANCE
If you choose to undertake freight insurance, this is what we will cover:
- Repair or replacement of insured system damaged in transit (at our discretion)
- Damage requires to be documented ideally at receiving depot
- Replacement of damaged tubes when sent with a system
- Damage between depot dispatch and depot receipt (damage between destination depot and final pick up is NOT covered
- Claims need to be documented and lodged on opening of the original boxes
Insurance claims need to be lodged within 7 days of receipt of goods.
If you choose to undertake freight insurance, this is what we will NOT cover:
- Damage to system or tubes after installation
- Damage to system or tubes during installation
- Damage to system or tubes in transit after pick up from depot
COMMERCIAL AND PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION
PAYMENT
Payment is due in full prior to installation unless negotiated otherwise in writing.
We reserve the right to remove any and all components if payment is not made in full.
All equipment and goods remain the property of GREAT Pty Ltd T/A North Solar until full payment has cleared
We reserve the right to retrieve our property if payment has defaulted.
Any outstanding funds will void all warranties.
PHOTOGRAPHY and MEDIA
We may use photographs provided by you or taken by us or our representatives for the purpose of promotion on our website, in electronic or other format of communication and transfer. This may include print material, social media, email, bogs, vlogs or other current or future mediums.
