Header tank is leaking and breather pipe steams.
A recent conversation with an owner of the NS-200 was about why does the header tank leak, breather pipe steams and how to fix it.
The problem:
Header tank has water dripping from the exhaust hole
The reason:
The NS200 is producing more hot water than is being used. This means that the water in the main tank is over 100deg and naturally the water expands, this in turn makes the water in the header tank overfill to the point of the exhaust hole and drip out as there is more water than necessary
The solution:
Use more hot water!
That is the obvious solution, but not necessary one that suits.
So if you are experiencing excessive hot water and the header tank issue is still concerning you, there is an alternative;
- Turn off the water to the header tank by installing a shut off valve and refill it periodically, monthly or bi-monthly
The main tank holds 200L+ and will only evaporate a small amount of water, less than a litre or so a month.
In testing over a 12 month period, no tank had fully evaporated due to the header tank refill being turned off.
