What is the header tank for?

Just wondering what the header tank is for?

Hi Bruce,
With our NS-100/200/300WB range, the header tank is designed to refill the main tank in the event of evaporation or boiling.
The main tank uses water as the heating medium, the water from there does not go into the house, it just thermosiphons to allow the heat exchanger to absorb heat.
