The pressure exhaust pie screws in clockwise, you should use Teflon tape for a better seal. You can place a thermometer probe down the pressure exhaust pipe to keep your own data on the temperatures you are achieving. 

          The rubber seal for the topper tank is contoured. Make sure it fits correctly to the tank for a better seal

              Screw the topper tank with Teflon tape until its tight and firm, be careful not to over tighten it as you will weaken the rubber seal.
